AP source: Biden heading to Gulf Coast
WASHINGTON — A senior Obama administration official tells The Associated Press that Vice President Joe Biden will travel to the Gulf Coast on Tuesday to review the efforts to combat the massive oil spill.
Biden is expected to visit the National Incident Command Center in New Orleans and the Florida Panhandle.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the trip had not yet been announced.
The White House is eager to show an hands-on sense of command over a disaster that has rocked the Gulf Coast and reshaped Obama’s presidency.
Obama has gone to the Gulf Coast four times since the crisis began on April 20.
