Bomb wounds 6 policemen, 3 passers-by in Pakistan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan — Police say a roadside bomb targeting a police patrol has wounded six policemen and three passers-by in northwestern Pakistan.

Senior police official Aslam Khatak says Saturday’s attack happened as the patrol vehicle traveled through the town of Dera Ismail Khan.

He says one of their officers who played an important role in arresting militants was among the victims.

The injured had been transported to a hospital.

Dera Ismail Khan lies near Pakistan’s troubled South Waziristan tribal region. A bomb that also targeted a police patrol in the city in May killed 13 people.
