NYC mayor: Obama can’t clean oil spill himself
NEW YORK — New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is defending President Barack Obama’s response to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, one week after he stuck up for BP.
The billionaire Republican-turned-independent said Thursday that Obama can’t be expected to put on scuba gear and fix the offshore oil well himself.
Bloomberg was asked whether he still supports the British oil giant. He was also asked for his thoughts on Obama’s handling of the crisis.
The mayor raised eyebrows last week when he said the world should not rush to blame BP, whose oil rig exploded in April.
On Thursday, Bloomberg said again that the blaming can come later, after the spill is fixed.
