Man held for throwing acid on girlfriend’s relative

NEW DELHI - A jilted lover who threw acid on a relative of his girlfriend last month was arrested here Monday, police said.

On May 8 at the Preet Vihar Metro station in east Delhi Girraj Singh threw acid on Neeraj - his girlfriend’s relative - after he came to know that she was getting married to another man.

“Interrogation of the family members of the girl revealed that Girraj started making threatening calls to them after he came to know about the impending marriage. When the police interrogated him at length, he confessed to having committed the crime,” a police officer said.

“In his confession, he also admitted that he attacked Neeraj mistaking him to be the person that his girlfriend was supposed to marry,” the officer added.
