LUCKNOW - Four drug peddlers have been arrested with heroin worth Rs.50 lakh in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, police said Monday.

The four men, including a retired army man, were nabbed late Sunday from Madhupur, some 200-km from Lucknow.

“Those arrested are from Jaunpur and Kanpur districts and were in the illegal trade for the last over four years,” district police chief S.C. Dubey told reporters in Auraiya.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the four used to supply drugs illegally in Uttar Pradesh and the neighbouring states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The four have provided vital inputs to unearthing the illegal business in parts of the state, police claimed.
