Israeli police shoot dead Palestinian in East Jerusalem

JERUSALEM - Israeli police shot dead a Palestinian motorist in East Jerusalem after he ran over and slightly injured two policemen on a patrol, police said.

The suspect tried to escape after running into the policemen and police began the chase, police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld told DPA.

They shot at him after he ignored calls to stop, he said. The man was taken to an East Jerusalem hospital in serious condition, where he died of his wounds.
