PERTH, AUSTRALIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Indian Ocean is swarmed with rescuers following the emergency beacon that was launched by Abby Sunderland. Reportedly, the American sailor was out in the Indian Ocean with an aim to circumnavigate the world when her vessel encountered rough winds which made her activate the emergency beacons in the Indian Ocean.
The 16-year-old sailor was traveling in “Wild Eyes” vessel which encountered rough winds that made the Indian Ocean witness waves reaching a height of 25 feet. Following the incident, her team has not been able to get in touch with her. They are trying to track the emergency beacons and personal locator beacons that were activated and launched in the Indian Ocean by Abby Sunderland.
Laurence Sunderland who happens to be the father of the 16-year-old sailor told the media that her daughter’s vessel “Wild Eyes” was sailing at a distance of 3,220 kilometers from South Africa. He also said that he feels that the rough winds which emerged in the Indian Ocean has knocked off the keel from the vessel. Abby Sunderland is said to be alive inside the cocoon desperately waiting for the rescue party to arrive. Airbus SAS A330-300 from Qantas Airways Ltd has been dispatched from the Perth airport which is headed towards the missing “Wild Eyes” vessel in the Indian Ocean. It was also informed that a French vessel was spotted to be sailing around the same location where “Wild Eyes” was knocked off by the rough winds in the Indian Ocean. Qantas Airways have asked the French vessel to sail around and notify them if they come across the missing vessel.
