165 kg heroin seized in Turkey

ANKARA - At least 165 kg of heroin was seized and 11 people detained for drug trafficking in Turkey Friday, an official said.

The drug was found stashed inside a truck on a highway in eastern Turkey’s Van province, Xinhua reported citing a statement from the Anatolia news agency.

Eleven people have been detained in this connection, Rafet Mert, Van security department chief, was quoted as saying.

Over 1.2 tonnes of heroin and 1.4 tonnes of hashish have been in operations conducted in 2010.
