Flash floods in central Texas kill at least 1
SAN ANTONIO — At least one person has died in flash floods that left buses and RVs wrapped around trees and light poles and cars standing on end in central Texas.
New Braunfels Police Lt. John Wells tells the San Antonio Express-News that a body was recovered Wednesday from the Guadalupe River in Gruene. About 11 inches of rain soaked the area between San Antonio and Austin overnight.
Game wardens from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department have been helping county authorities with high-water rescues.
A tornado also caused property damage in east Texas’ Jefferson County earlier Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
