Cop rapes woman in Lucknow, suspended

LUCKNOW - A 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a police constable, police said Wednesday.

Yadav, 25, allegedly raped the woman Tuesday evening. The woman had arrived in Lucknow a few days ago from Pratapgarh to take an examination.

“On the pretext of dropping the woman to a bus station, Yadav took her to his friend’s house and committed the crime,” Inspector Sarang Dhar Dwivedi said.

“A criminal case against the constable was registered today (Wednesday),” he added.
