LUCKNOW - A 12-year-old boy in Uttar Pradesh has been critically injured after his friend allegedly shot at him following an argument while playing, police said Wednesday.
The incident took place Tuesday evening in Siddharthnagar district’s Budhapur village, about 300 km from here, when Virendra Kumar had a spat with his 13-year-old neighbourhood friend.
“The two started fighting. With the intervention of the other children playing there, the matter was sorted out,” police inspector Ram Dhani told reporters in Siddharthnagar.
Virendra continued playing with the other children but his friend got a locally made pistol and shot at him.
Virendra was rushed to a hospital in Gorakhpur where his condition is stated to be serious. His friend, a student of Class 6, managed to escape.
“The boy and his family members are absconding after the incident. Efforts are on to nab them,” Dhani said.
