Man kills mother over property

KOLKATA - A 30-year-old man killed his mother over a dispute related to family property in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district Tuesday, police said.

Jayanta Sadhukha smashed Sandhya Rani Sadhukha’s head with a iron dumbbell in Panpara village and surrendered to the police. He has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a court.

According to witnesses, Jayanta hit his mother repeatedly following an altercation over ownership of the family property, police said.

Jayanta’s father transferred his property to Sandhya Rani’s name before his death. Jayanta was addicted to drugs and often used to force his mother to give him money, police said.
