Criminal wanted for murder shot dead

LUCKNOW - A criminal who carried a reward of Rs.1.5 lakh was gunned down along with an associate by police in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district, police said Saturday.

Santosh Gupta alias Kittu (30) and his accomplice were shot dead in Jagatganj area, some 300 km from Lucknow, by the Special Operation Group.

Police officer Girja Shankar Tiwari said Gupta was involved in over 20 cases including that of murder, bank robbery, abduction and other heinous crimes. Two pistols were recovered from the dead man.
