LUCKNOW - At least four pilgrims were killed and 31 injured when a bus carrying them fell into a gorge in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district Wednesday, police said.

The bus, carrying pilgrims to an Urs, hit a stationary truck in Payagpur area and fell into the gorge, killing four of them on the spot.

“The injured are being treated at the district hospital where condition of 10 is stated to be critical,” police inspector Bhagwati Singh told reporters in Bahraich, about 300 km from Lucknow.

Most of the pilgrims in the bus were from villages in Bahraich. They were on their way to participate in an Urs on the outskirts of Bahraich.
