BEIJING - A man committed suicide after shooting six judges, killing three of them, in a court in China Tuesday, authorities said.

The incident took place at 10.05 a.m. when proceeding was on in a district court in Yongzhou city of central China’s Hunan province, Xinhua reported quoting a local official.

Zhu Jun, 46, barged into the court and shot the judges before killing himself, police said.

Initial investigation showed that Zhu, who had a son, divorced his wife three years ago and was living with his parents. He committed the crime to take revenge on the court.

Zhu’s family told police that he thought the court unjustly handled the property dispute when the couple divorced.

The victims were not involved in Zhu’s divorce case, the police said.
