24 revellers killed in northern India

At least 24 revellers enjoying marriage celebrations have been killed overnight in northern India, police said today.

Police said 15 deaths were reported from Uttar Pradesh and nine from Bihar.

Police said five members of a marraige party were killed and 35 others were injured when a truck carrying them back to their villagers after wedding overturned in Patna district of Bihar today.

Last evening four members of a family were killed when a speeding truck ploughed through a crowd of marraige procession in Bihar’s vaishali district.

In a similar incidnet, 15 guests were killed when a speeding bus ploughed through a crowd of marraige procession dancing along the road in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.
