NEW DELHI - A 22-year-old woman was stabbed to death with a steel rod by her husband in north Delhi as he suspected her of having an affair with another man, police said Saturday. The accused has been arrested.

“The incident occurred around 6.30 a.m. Friday in a building under construction in Bawana,” a police officer said.

A police constable detected the body and on inquiry the victim was identified as Chanchal Devi wife of Dhananjay Kumar, police said.

Dharmender, brother of the victim, said that Kumar suspected Devi of having illicit relations with another man who lived in the same building and was employed as a guard.

“An argument broke out between Kumar and Devi and he stabbed her with an eight-feet- long steel rod in a fit of rage,” the officer added.

“The body has been sent for post mortem and the accused has been arrested,” he said.
