Former central minister’s car stolen from his house

KARNAL - Former union minister of state for home I.D. Swami’s car was stolen from his house in this Haryana town Saturday, police said.

According to police, unidentified men stole a silver-coloured Qualis parked in front of Swami’s home.

“Police have registered a case against unidentified persons. We are raiding various places to arrest the thieves,” said a police officer.

Swami, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, condemned the state government for its failure to maintain law and order.

“The Haryana government under Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government at the centre have failed to maintain law and order situation. This incident is very shameful. It proves that nobody is safe in the country,” said Swami, who was a minister in former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government.
