Tanker burns on SoCal freeway; all lanes closed
CORONA, Calif. — Authorities say a multi-vehicle accident caused a gasoline tanker to overturn and burn on a Southern California freeway.
All lanes of Highway 91 are closed near Corona and traffic has backed up for miles. There are no reports of any major injuries.
The California Highway Patrol says the tanker, which was hauling a fuel trailer, collided with a car and crashed around 10:30 a.m. Friday on the freeway’s eastbound lanes, about 50 miles east of Los Angeles.
CHP dispatcher Jon Twenty says about six cars were involved in the wreck and some of them were also burned.
Twenty says the freeway will remain closed for several more hours. Parts of the 71 freeway are also closed.
