GANDHINAGAR - Jailed Deputy Superintendent of Police N.K. Amin and Inspector V.A. Rathod were Wednesday granted four days’ Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody for questioning in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake gun battle case.
CBI Special Court Judge V.B. Barot also turned down Amin’s request for four weeks’ time to appeal against the order.
Meanwhile, Abhay Chudasama, deputy commissioner of the Ahmedabad crime branch, arrested by the CBI in connection with the ongoing investigation is expected to be shifted from Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati central jail to the Nadiad prison soon.
The shift was permitted after his wife Tejal shot off a letter to the jail authorities, saying he faced a threat to his life in the Ahmedabad prison as many of the accused arrested by him in various cases were also lodged there.
The CBI had also favoured his shifting but the special court judge ruled against interfering in the matter as the Inspector General of Police (prisons) was empowered to take such decisions.
The prisons chief has now okayed the prison transfer.
