BP Oil Leak To Stop Hopefully

WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- After weeks of failed attempts made by British Petroleum (BP) which is the owner of the leaking Gulf of Mexico oil well, to stop or at least restrict the flow of the crude natural oil into the sea, it seems that their latest Sunday attempt has worked properly. The officials are hopeful after the Sunday’s successful attempt of attaching a one mile long pipe into one of the leaks, that they would be able to stop the oil leak completely soon.

Doug Suttles who is the chief operating officer of BP has revealed to the media sources that the successful Sunday attachment is being able to capture around 20% of the oil well’s flow. He told that on Sunday morning the company was able to get around 1000 barrels of oil into the drill ship Enterprise. Though he agreed that the amount which is being drilled is not enough compared to the amount that is being still pumped by the oil leak into the sea, he marked the Sunday’s attempt as a good progress.

The Doug Suttles mentioned that though at present it is only drilling around 1000 barrels of oil, in the next 24 hours attempts will be made to increase the amount of drill and capture more oil from the oil leak. He added that probably towards the end of the week, the BP will be able to take the step to stop the oil flow completely. As of now the BP oil leak is creating havoc in the marine ecosystem in the Gulf of Mexico area and is still continuing the plunder.
