Crime under control in Delhi, says police chief

NEW DELHI - The incidence of crime is under control in the capital and police are prepared to tackle any security challenges during the Commonwealth Games in October, Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said Friday.

“Crime in Delhi is under control. The police have certain plans to provide security during the Games,” Dadwal told reporters.

He said securing the Games would be the biggest challenge for the police and they were prepared to tackle any security challenges.

To a query about the rise of crime graph in the city ahead of Games, he said such things happen in foreign countries too before a mega event.

“Our ear and eye scheme is working well as we are getting cooperation from people and market associations in securing places,” he added.

Dadwal also said the police were working hard to trace missing children and soon they would submit a report to the Delhi High Court on this.

According to police, the number of robbery cases has crossed 200 so far this year. Also, 450 incidents of snatching have been reported form various parts of the city.
