Ukrainian national wanted in US held in Delhi

NEW DELHI - A Ukrainian national, wanted by the US for cyber crimes, was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) statement said Wednesday.
Sergey V. Storchak was taken into custody by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) from the aircraft May 8 when he arrived here from Goa.
He was later handed over to the police, the statement from the CBI said.
According to CBI, Storchak was brought before a magistrate May 9 and sent to judicial custody till May 22.
“The concerned officials of US embassy in New Delhi have been suitably briefed as per extradition treaty for procurement of extradition documents so that the Ministry of External Affairs could set up an extradition court,” the statement said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the US had issued a look-out circular on Storchak who along with 10 others was accused of stealing and selling more than 40 million credit and debit card numbers.
Storchak’s gang operated in the US, eastern Europe and Asia.
The FBI had informed the CBI about Storchak’s presence in the country and that he was likely to reach the capital from Goa.
