Seven die as tempo collides with container in Maharashtra

PUNE - Seven people were killed and 15 injured when the tempo they were travelling in collided with a container truck in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district, police said Wednesday.
The incident took place late Tuesday when over 20 members of a family were travelling in a tempo from Beed village to attend a wedding at Aurangabad city. The groom and his family had left in a car ahead of them.
“At around 11.30 p.m. the tempo collided with a container at Pendgaon on the Beed-Aurangabad-Dhule Road on the National Highway 211,” said B.R. Gite, senior police inspector of Beed (rural) police station.
“Six members of the family and the driver of the tempo died. Fifteen injured have been shifted to Beed Civil Hospital. Three of them are critical,” Gite said.
Five people who died have been identified as Shaikh Javed Shaikh Rasul, 22, Shaikh Ibrahim Shaikh Sheru, 20, Aameen Karim, 21,, Mirza Baig, 20, and Shaikh Laif Shaikh Satar, 25. The driver and another person are yet to be identified.
