Blast felt miles away levels 2 Cleveland homes
CLEVELAND — Authorities say an explosion felt for miles destroyed two homes on Cleveland’s east side, damaged neighboring houses and sent at least two people to the hospital.
The blast around 8 a.m. Wednesday left a hole in the ground between the two homes that were leveled. Only the chimney remained at one home after the explosion, while the other had just one wall standing.
Authorities who ordered an evacuation of the area say they’re concerned about leaking natural gas.
Neighbors tell WJW-TV that all the residents of the affected homes have been accounted for. The extent of the injuries is not yet clear.
People living in suburbs at least 10 miles away say they felt the explosion.
