NEW DELHI - An 86-year-old man was killed and his neighbour suffered injuries in attacks by burglars who ransacked their homes in Kalkaji Extension of south east Delhi early Wednesday, police said.
Janak Raj Likhi and his neighbour Vidya Gulabani, 75, were attacked and tied up by a group of burglars around 3:30 a.m. The two elderly people lived on separate floors from their family members.
“Likhi succumbed to his injuries while Gulabani is undergoing treatment in the Holy Family Hospital,” a police official said.
“We are questioning every known person to the elderlies and looking at every angle,” Additional Commissioner of Police (south-east Delhi) Virender Singh Chahal told IANS.
“The modus operandi of the robbers seems similiar to that of a group of Bangladeshi robbers operating in Delhi,” he added.
The case is challenging as Gulabani has only 5-10 percent of her vision and there is no other eyewitness, Chahal said.
