Saltwater crocodile kills girl

ANDAMAN, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)-An US student who was visiting Andaman Islands of India was killed by a Saltwater Crocodile. Reportedly, Lauren Failla was out in the Andaman Islands for a vacation with her boyfriend. When out in Andaman Islands, she went missing on April 28 and recently her body was found mauled by the saltwater crocodile.

It was said that the saltwater crocodile are one of the most prominent animals in the region. The Andaman Islands encircling the Bay of Bengal is the home for the saltwater crocodiles who some times cross the strait and hop upon on to the Havelock Island where many had been a prey to the saltwater crocodiles. As a matter of fact, there has been 24 such cases where the saltwater crocodiles have killed many visitors. Among all other species of crocodiles which are abundant in the Andaman, the Saltwater crocodiles are the only one which are mammoth in size and equally heavy.

In wake of the fateful incident Gloria McLean Hiratsuka who happens to be the cousin of the dead told the media that she feels that the incident could have been avoided. She is of the opinion that if there would have been signs and warnings for visitors they might have refrained themselves from entering the area.The saltwater crocodile reside in the very same waters the 25 year old went for swimming and as a obvious consequence became the prey of the saltwater crocodile and ended up mauled and dead. Lauren Failla ’s family is deeply hurt at the incident as because they had lost their other daughter Emily Failla who died way back in Washington when she went for rock climbing.
