Four human traffickers held, three girls rescued

NEW DELHI - Four people were arrested from Rajasthan’s Alwar district for kidnapping and trafficking young girls from the national capital, police said Sunday. Three minor girls have been rescued.
Bina, Mangal, Ashok and Shyam Lal were arrested from Sondavas and Girvas village in Alwar district Saturday, police added.
According to police, raids were conducted after receiving information that a gang was kidnapping young girls from Delhi and selling them in Rajasthan.
“The police team conducted raids in Sodavas and Girvas village in Rajasthan yesterday (Saturday),” a senior police officer said.
During the raid, police rescued three girls aged between five to eight years. Two of these girls were kidnapped from Sultanpuri area of outer Delhi in 2009, while the third does not remember who her parents are as she was very young when she was kidnapped. All three girls are presently in a children’s home.
“The kingpin of the gang Radha (name changed) sold the young girls to the accused who used to raise the girls till they attained maturity and then force them into prostitution,” the officer said.
Radha used to work as an assistant with a contractor who supplied food in primary schools. She used to get friendly with the family of the victims and would then kidnap the girls, police said.
“We are trying to trace Radha and further investigations are on to establish the fate of some children that this gang has sent to their their associates and relatives in Mumbai,” the officer added.
