RAIPUR - A woman police officer has been arrested on charges of hiring men for killing her personal driver who had her “obscene” pictures and was blackmailing her. Four men have also been held, authorities said Tuesday.

Tarshila Toppo, in-charge of a police station in Janjgir-Champa district, hired four men and paid them Rs.100,000 to kill 23-year-old Jagdish Singh Rajput. The driver was killed with a sharp-edged weapon in March.

“The sensational murder case of a woman cop’s driver has been cracked. The culprit is none other than the cop herself who paid money to four persons to execute the murder plan. The four killers and the lady cop have been arrested,” Superintendent of Police (Janjgir-Champa) H.R. Manhar told reporters.

Manhar said Toppo was upset with the repeated blackmailing bids by Rajput who had managed to get some “obscene” photographs of her. He was threatening her that he would make the pictures public.
