NEW DELHI - The wife of a taxi driver has been arrested for her alleged involvement in his murder in the Mahipalpur area of south Delhi, police said Saturday. This is the second arrest in the case.
“Meenu, 25, the wife of the murdered taxi driver Vijendra Yadav, 30, was Friday arrested for her involvement in her husband’s murder,” a police officer told IANS.
Yadav’s body was recovered from an abandoned car April 26 in south Delhi.
Police arrested Hemraj, 21, a staffer in the Indian Air Force, from an Indian Air Force base near Hyderabad Thursday in connection with the murder.
According to police, Hemraj was in love with Yadav’s wife Meenu.
As Yadav got to know about his wife’s affair he started physically abusing her. The two accused could not tolerate this and planned the crime.
Hemraj, with the help of his relative and Meenu, strangulated Yadav in his house April 26.
“Our investigations revealed that Yadav was killed in his house. His body was placed in his car so as to give an impression that the motive behind the murder was robbery,” the police officer said.
After sustained interrogation, Meenu confessed to their involvement in the crime, while three more people involved are being traced, police said.
