Himachal officer held for graft

SHIMLA - A Himachal Pradesh government official has been arrested on charges of taking money from a hydropower company, police said Saturday.

Sub-divisional Magistrate B.R. Kamal was taken into custody from his residence at Rohru in Shimla district Friday night with Rs.200,000 in cash, vigilance department official S.P.S. Verma told reporters.

Verma said the accused got the cash from the company for extending favours to it. He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
