Senior home ministry official held for graft

NEW DELHI - A senior bureaucrat in the home ministry was arrested Wednesday on charges of accepting and demanding bribes from private companies, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said.

O. Ravi, joint secretary for disaster management, was held after the CBI conducted searches at his official residence in the national capital.

“The officer established unauthorised contacts with some firms. We are conducting raids at various places,” CBI spokesman Harsh Bhal said.
