NEW DELHI - The Lok Sabha Tuesday denounced the killing of two Dalits in Haryana’s Mirchpur village.

Speaker Meira Kumar said: “Two people were burnt to death and over a dozen injured when a large number of Dalit houses were set ablaze by some anti-social elements in Mirchpur village of Haryana’s Hisar district.”

“The house strongly condemns this incident of atrocity against Dalits,” the speaker said.

The house also expressed “its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured”.

At least 20 families of the Valmiki community in Mirchpur village fled after an arson attack April 21 in which 15 houses were damaged and a 70-year-old Dalit man and his 18-year-old physically-challenged daughter were burnt to death.
