Gupta was passing information to Pakistan intelligence: India

THIMPHU - Madhuri Gupta was \”passing information\” to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan, an Indian official said Tuesday, shortly after the junior Indian diplomat in Islamabad was arrested in New Delhi on charges of spying.
\”We have reasons to believe that the official in the High Commission of India in Pakistan had been passing on information to Pakistani intelligence agencies. The matter is currently under investigation. The official is cooperating with us. That is all we can share at this juncture,\” Indian external affairs ministry spokesperson Vishnu Prakash told reporters here. This was the first official admission of Gupta\’s arrest and the spying charges.
According to official sources, Gupta, who specialised in Urdu, was translating Pakistani newspaper articles for the high commission.
Gupta, who served as second secretary at the Indian High Commission , was arrested from her home in New Delhi.
