MOHALI - A team of income tax officials Friday visited the warehouse-cum-office of Kings XI Punjab, a franchisee team of the Indian Premier League (IPL), here.
According to officials, a two-member team from the Panchkula office in Haryana went to the office located in a residential area and scrutinised some documents.
“It is not a raid and not even a search operation. It is just a casual inquiry. Their (Kings XI Punjab) head office is in Mumbai, then why conduct raids here,” asked Pawan Parmar, director (survey) of the income tax department. “It is a routine exercise.”
According to officials, the team spent nearly an hour in the office.
Last week, an 11-member team of income tax officials visited the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium here to collect documents and records pertaining to the IPL.
The visit follows allegations of financial wrongdoing hurled against the IPL.
