NEW DELHI - A 35-year-old man died of burns here after his car caught fire, police said Friday, correcting their own earlier version that the victim was a woman.

Rupinder Singh, a resident of Karol Bagh, was in Rohini Sector-16 when his car caught fire after an electrical short circuit.

A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said: “We received a call about the accident around 11.50 a.m.”

“The incident occurred due to an electrical short circuit in the car which got locked as it has a central locking system,” the police officer said.

“We have asked the forensic team to examine the car,” the official added.
