Police: Blast kills 21 in Pakistan’s Peshawar city

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A police official says the death toll in a bombing close to a police station in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar has risen to 21.

Police official Zahid Khan says the explosion occurred Monday evening in a crowded market area.

A bomb exploded earlier Monday outside a school run by a police welfare foundation in Peshawar, killing a young boy and wounding 10 other people.

Taliban and al-Qaida militants fighting Pakistani security forces will be suspected in the attacks.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A police official says a blast near a police station has killed two people in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar.

Police official Zahid Khan says the explosion occurred Monday evening.

Khan says the police station is located in a crowded market area and casualties are likely to rise.

A bomb exploded earlier Monday outside a school run by a police welfare foundation in Peshawar, killing a young boy and wounding 10 other people.

Taliban and al-Qaida militants fighting Pakistani security forces will be suspected in the attacks.
