4 dead in van-truck crash on Ohio highway
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Ohio Highway Patrol says a tractor-trailer jackknifed and swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding with a van transporting disabled passengers, killing four people in the van.
The accident occurred near Springfield in southwest Ohio. It has been snowing most of the day in the area, but it wasn’t immediately clear what role, if any, weather played in the crash.
Sgt. Raymond Durant says the tractor-trailer was heading westbound on Interstate 70 on Thursday when it crossed the highway median and struck the 15-passenger van and another vehicle heading the opposite way.
Durant says four people are dead, including the van’s driver. He says seven others were injured. All were riding in the van.
