PATNA - The body of a 10-year-old boy, who had been abducted two days ago for ransom, was found near a road here, triggering angry protests. Police said Friday that two suspects have been arrested.

The body of Amarjeet Kumar, a Class 5 student of K.P.S. School, was found near the by-pass road Thursday night. Police suspect the boy was killed a day after he was kidnapped Wednesday from Saristabad locality, which comes under Gardanibagh police station.

The boy’s father Akhilesh Kumar, a contractor, received a call on his cell phone from the abductors asking for Rs.5 lakh for his safe release. A distraught Kumar says quicker police action could have saved his son.

“My son was kidnapped when he was on way to his school located in Khagaul. We informed the police but no action was taken Wednesday. Police wasted hours in verifying whether it was a case of kidnapping or not,” Kumar told IANS here.

After the boy’s body was found, hundreds of angry people blocked roads and demanded action against the officer in charge of the Gardanibagh police station for his failure to begin a search to trace the boy soon after the incident came to light.
