SANTIAGO - A 56-year-old woman and her 25-year-old daughter died in Chile after being attacked by seven dogs.

According to Chilean police, the two women stepped out Monday onto the garden of their home in the town of Talagante, about 40 km outside Santiago, where three St Bernard dogs were fighting four mixed breed dogs.

The women were then attacked by the seven animals, which caused them serious injuries that led to their deaths on the way to hospital.

Police said the dogs belonged to a neighbour, against whom complaints had previously been filed over the animals’ behaviour.

The owner was arrested and is expected to be charged with the double homicide pending further investigation, the authorities said.
