Storm causes massive destruction in eastern India, 11 dead

A powerful storm struck eastern India second time in a week, killing at least 11 people.

Officials said the storm hit many parts of Bihar state in eastern India before noon today, causing massive destruction to life and property.

Officials said maximum destruction was reported from Kaimur district where nine people were killed.

Among them were three children who died on spot after their school building collapsed under the impact of storm which accompanied rains.

Strom has also damaged hundreds of houses, destroyed power lines and uprooted many trees.

The meteorolgical department has issued alert about more such storms in the next 24 hours.
