Car hits commuter train in Philadelphia, 1 hurt
PHILADELPHIA — A commuter train has collided with a car in Philadelphia, and one person in the car is hurt.
The accident happened at a crossing in the East Falls section of the city Thursday night. A fire dispatcher says one person in the car is hurt, but there are no injuries being reported on the train.
Fifty-four-year-old passenger Joe Higgins says the Norristown-bound train was moving slowly and was approaching a station when the accident happened.
Higgins says many people on the train didn’t even realize something had happened. They stayed on the train until Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority personnel took them off.
The car was sitting upside-down after the crash and appeared to have suffered significant damage.
