NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE (GaeaTimes.com)- The Grand Ole Opry House, the place which is considered to be the mecca of country music, got badly hit by the floodwater in Nashville, Tennessee. However, the authorities have not yet been able to ascertain the extent of the damage that has been caused by the flood. More than the entire structure, the authorities are concerned about the stage, which has housed the performances of some of the most noted of country music stars over the years. The stage is one of the biggest platforms for country musicians, and is something of a relic, being made up from the floorboards of the old stage, which was in the Ryman Auditorium.
The Grand Ole Opry House, which is situated on high ground, does not generally get inundated even during heavy rains. However, this time, the rainfall has reached record proportions, the water reaching almost 12 feet. The Grand Ole Opry House is located in the Gaylord Hotel Complex, and the complex began to get inundated due to this heavy rainfall, and soon, the water reached the Grand Ole Opry House too. The worst part of the tragedy is that the flood has hit the House just as it was getting ready for the celebrations of the 85th birthday.
According to reports, the celebrations will be undertaken in the War Memorial Auditorium and the Ryman Auditorium. The tragedy has hit the singers who have performed in the auditorium big time, for most of whom it is ‘hallowed ground.’ The hotel in the same complex has also been flooded, and the officials have reported that it is going to remain closed for several weeks now. A complete estimate of the damage in the Grand Ole Opry House has not yet been made.
