German woman alleges rape by two youths in Himachal

DHARAMSALA - A 46-year-old German woman has lodged a complaint that she was allegedly raped by two youths of this Himachal Pradesh town last month, police said Saturday.

“A German woman late last (Friday) night lodged a complaint that she was raped by two youths for two successive days - Dec 27 and 28 - during her stay at Bagsunag near McLeodganj,” Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kangra) O. Jamwal told IANS.

He said the victim was undergoing treatment at the Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital at Tanda town after the incident and lodged the complaint after she was discharged from the hospital.

“The victim said that both youths seemed to be Tibetans,” he said.

Jamwal said that a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and the medical examination of the woman was conducted at the Rajendra Prasad Medical College Saturday.

The woman was Jan 7 found lying unconscious at Bagsunag, 2 km from McLeodganj, the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile, and admitted to the hospital. She told doctors that she was addicted to psychotropic drugs and fell unconscious from an overdose, said a police official.

This was the second rape case of a foreigner in Kangra district within six months.

Earlier, an 18-year-old British volunteer teacher was raped by two cab drivers in Palampur town.
