Firefighters battling apartment blaze in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Firefighters are battling a wind-whipped blaze in an apartment complex near the Las Vegas Strip.

There was no immediate word of any injuries as flames ripped through several apartments in the complex. Flames jumped across rooftops and spread through the densely built block of multi-story apartments.

The blaze was reported just after 6:15 a.m.

The National Weather Service says winds in the area are blowing at 28 mph, with gusts to 40 mph.
