NEW DELHI - A couple was killed in their house in Delhi when a leaking liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder exploded Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.

Chandan Vishwas, 45, and his wife Tara, 41, both from West Bengal, were living in a rented accommodation at Geeta Colony in east Delhi.

Tara was making dinner in the kitchen on the second floor of the house when the blast took place. Chandan rushed for help but was burned too, said a senior police officer.

They were taken to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where doctors declared them ‘brought dead’.

The couple were from Malda in West Bengal. Vishwas worked with a private factory in Rani Bagh area.

The victims’ two children were not in the house when the blast took place, police said.
