NEW DELHI - A Delhi court sentenced two young men to life imprisonment for stabbing to death their neighbour and injuring four others following a scuffle.

Additional Sessions Judge N.K. Kaushik convicted Kshitiz Kumar and Deepak for murdering their neighbour Feroz Hussain and injuring his brothers Shabbir and Shamshad, besides two other men.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs.16,000 each on both of them. The convicts were residents of Sagarpur in west Delhi.

The court convicted the duo relying upon eyewitness accounts of injured victims Shabbir and Shamshad.

The attack took place Feb 18, 2009, when Shabbir’s son Imran came back home and told him that he was beaten up by three men in a park where he was playing.

Shabbir went to the park with his brothers Feroz and Shamshad and two others, but could not find the men.

The brothers saw the men in a narrow lane adjoining the park. When accosted by the brothers, the men in the lane struck at the brothers and their associates with a bat and knives.

They stabbed Feroz and mercilessly beat Shabbir and Shamshad with the bat and fled the scene.

The injured were taken to a hospital where Feroz died a day later.

The convicts’ third accomplice escaped from police custody while he was admitted in a hospital for treatment after his arrest.
