School van catches fire, no casualties

New Delhi, (IANS) A van used to ferry school children caught fire in central Delhi on Thursday morning, fire officials said. There were no casualties.
The accident took place in front of Liberty Cinema hall in Karol Bagh area of central Delhi around 8 a.m. when the driver was returning after dropping the children at Navjeevan Public School.
The fire officials said they received a call around 8.05 a.m. after which a fire tender was rushed to the spot.
“The car had completely caught fire and though we managed to douse the flames quickly, it was completely burnt down. The driver managed to get out of the car and there were no casualties,” said a fire official.
Following the incident, there was traffic congestion reported on the usually busy road.
“We are still investigating how the vehicle caught fire. The driver told us that he saw smoke coming out and as soon he stepped out to check, flames engulfed the vehicle,” said a police officer.
