LONDON - An Indian-origin British woman may be jailed in Dubai after she was charged with sending curses and insults in a chat on Facebook with a man who had approached her for sex.

Amarjit Kaur Dhadli, 44, complained to police that she had been approached for sex on the social networking website by a 35-year-old US computer engineer named Qasem Ali.

Police asked her to tempt Ali into a hotel rendezvous.

Though Ali was later arrested and he admitted he had sent abusive messages, police turned the tables on Dhadli by checking her chats with Ali, in which she rejected his advances and suggested he should have sex with his mother.

The woman would now be charged with sending curses and insults, a crime that carries a maximum jail term of six months.
