Vienna, Jan 23 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The house where Austrian man Josef Fritzl imprisoned his daughter in a dungeon for 24 years, raped her and fathered seven children with her, will be demolished, officials said.

The house - dubbed the “house of horrors” - is located in the northern Austrian town of Amstetten.

Though no date has yet been set for the demolition, it was likely to take place at night to deter media attention, authorities said Saturday.

Fritzl, 74, known as “Monster of Amstetten” was sentenced to life in March 2009 after he pleaded guilty to all charges, including rape and incest.

The man locked his daughter, Elisabeth, in a sound-proof custom-built basement at the family home shortly after she turned 18.

Over the next 24 years, Fritzl used her as his sex slave, raping her over 3,000 times.

He fathered seven children with her. While three of the children were adopted by him, three remained in the basement, and he was accused of murdering the seventh child.

The child died shortly after birth in the basement, due to possible lack of medical treatment. Fritzl burned the body shortly after its birth. An eighth child was miscarried.
